Another idea for a potential game 'mode'.
Much like EVE Capsuleers protect their ships with Insurance, there would be a new 'Mercenary Contract' option which will allow Dust players to attack or defend said ship upon request. These could be listed as "Priority Missions" on the Battle Finder, where players can join a match and determine the outcome of an EVE Pilot's situation.
Note that one of these contracts would be required to 'Raid' another EVE Pilot's ship. |

Well, I do understand how EVE works. I'm no seasoned player, but I've piloted before. Already I can tell you that how things are done in battles somewhat disappoint me.
However.
If things are done at a slower pace, as in PvP'ers seeking to 'Raid' a ship - NOT Destroy the thing, like people usually do - add a new perspective to how things are done in both EVE and Dust - provided they could take an entire ship, or at least plunder better quality salvage than from a ship's obliterated remains. Sometimes all I ask is for a little thought on the matter. |

No one's talking about blowing anything up. And we're not talking about cramming as many Dust players onto a single ship as possible (at the same damn time!). At best this will be only a set of Dust-side matches that will determine what will happen EVE-side.
This is also very doable with what's already available to us. All that needs to be added is a mercenary contract function within EVE, and a mercenary Contract function in Dust that allows players to join.
But you know what. Just forget it. Great ideas don't need to be heard. |

Octavian Vetiver wrote:Insurance is for the ship when it blows up. Sure, maybe they could set it up. Not easily. And most pvpers will not care about capturing the ship. They want the killmail, whatever the wreck drops or ransom not to blow it up. Secondly, you still have the added issue of how do the mercs get from where they are to the ship. Thirdly, if they took out ships actually exploding. That means modules and everything else will stay in one piece. This presents an economic problem with the market. If you no longer have to manufacture ships or modules. No more mining. It'd turn into something like STO. And fourthly, if they did n't take out ship destruction. And they did add this. What's to keep the mercs from backstabbing? That's the wonder of EVE. If players can manage to pull off a successful heist, then by all means - major props to them. Also, by doing these raids, attackers will be able to salvage more and increase their payoff - at least for all their troubles. And no, this will not destroy the mining industry. This will require corps to beef up their defenses in order to avoid a raid. Matter of fact, if such a battle did occur, and the defending Corp lost, then the attacking Corp can call in their raid ship while keeping it hostage - perhaps a difficult tactic, alas a new one - once the raid commences Dust players can either assist the raiding Corp or defend the hijacked ship. This will be an "up for grabs" event, meaning first come first served. Mercenary selection then will mostly be random, as the only participants of the event will be whoever is online Dust at the time.
This is only one scenario. And it utilizes already existent principles of both games. |

Totally forgot about the ship swarm tactics. Not much has changed between the two games after all. |
